Sampling Techniques - A Venus Hum Video Revisited

Post by nebulae » Mon Jan 26, 2009 4:05 pm

I remember posting this a couple of years ago, but it didn't get much traction. But it's a beautiful example of great sampling techniques from a very cool Nashville band, Venus Hum. The video takes you through the steps of creating a whole song our of one guitar sample. Enjoy.

Thanks for posting this, I found it very useful. Next time I head to my pops place I'll get him to play a few notes on his violin and try the same thing.

Thanks for the video. It just goes to show that you don't need GB's and GB's of samples to be creative, and come up with something that really sounds good.

^ yeah, that's especially true with Sampler...which is built for using as a synth rather than a ROMplayer (which most modern sampler are more like).

Glad you found this useful...I think it's entirely inspiring to just get creative...

I remember this video, and wanted to reference it in conversation just now. Sadly, it’s listed as private now.

I’m not sure why that surprises me; the other links in this thread are to MySpace.

Anyway, it was a great video, and I’m gonna go listen to my Venus Hum CDs now.
