yes...? So? I hear modulation is the "next big thing" in synthesis... If you've never used a synced LFO in a pad sound now's the time to try it... it's quite good ;)
Also a drone can be both a sustained or *a repeated* note. Repetition *can* be rhythmic.

I personally do the movement/LFO trix - with the clip envelopes instead, and rather just loop the endless sound in the Sampler.
Then tempo changes arent a problem.
