[OT] transport at a standstill in London due to heavy snow

Post by serge_a_storms » Mon Feb 02, 2009 9:08 am

Yay! an impromptu day off work as there is sooooo little transport running London today due to heavy snow fall!

Transport for London are advising not to travel unless absolutely necessary. I suppose it really depends on how necessary you think it is to get to work on a cold Monday morning after a heavy weekend?!!

I certainly don't feel it's necessary!! lol :D

I get a train to work. Only a 15-20 minute journey, but I rely on the train. I waited for an hour at a freezing station with the staff assuring me a train going my way wouldn't be coming for another two hours.

Just about to phone the office and convince my boss that I should 'work from home' today, and a train rolls into the station...

And it's football transfer deadline day today: could have fancied listening to all the breaking news on the radio in bed

The uk is a fupping joke, 6 inches of snow and its front page news. I was just watching bbc news 24 and they had someone actually showing us live, the difference between a grited road and a non grited road, the segment went on for 10 minutes. The BBC has gone to shit, its like Newsround for kids

Yes the BBC really has, as one says, "gone to shit" if they are reporting on 'grited' roads.

I for one am glad the roads round my way have been "gritted" - now that's news

I've got a nice, average, never-lets-you-down piece of 6" action going on in Portsmouth/Havant, Hampshire, UK :)

It would be a nice day but someone smashed my car window... they haven't stolen anything but there was a lot of snow in the car.

Bastards!

I am in Spain at the moment running a conference. When 480 delegates found out that Gatwick and Luton were shut down, it suddenly became a very, very long night.

All's well now, though.
