Price went up, I see -- a few weeks ago it was $799.
This is a controller specifically designed for Ableton Live.
So is the Akai APC40, for less than half the price.
I am having trouble understanding who would want to buy the Vestax at that price. Yes I understand it has dedicated EQ knobs per channel, but in all other respects it seems to me that the APC40 is a big win.
Oh yeah, one other thing: The APC40 requires a separate power supply.
Still, 900 bucks? For a 6-channel controller? Sheesh.

The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

Just got mine. Had a VCI-100, and sold off it and another piece of kit for it.
The build quality on the VCM-600 is staggering. The thing is a tank.
Until now, I was doing the DJ/live remix thing every weekend with the VCI-100 and a Zero SL. The VCI-100 I never had any worries about, although the Zero SL always seemed a bit, ah, delicate.
Anyway. The VCM-600 literally mirrors everything I was doing with my live set as it was, so the purchase was a no-brainer. I bought it purely for performance use, and won't be using it for production.
The APC40 is also slick as hell, and I have money down on one. I'll be using it + the VCM + the Zero SL for live PAs of my own material.

This whole post isbeats me wrote:Personally I consider this thing a big FAIL from the design, to the lag time of release, to the price....and then the APC40 came along and took a shit in it's mouth and shoved it off a cliff.
"Oh but it has dedicated EQs per channel!!"
FAIL.
And yeah, wtf on this price. This isn't going to fly with most peoples' financial situations.

the korg zero 8 would be a better purchase since the price drop they are obo the same price however the zero 8 has more featres and more pots etc for customization...i think the zero 8 has a built in soundcard aswell. i think i would choose the zero8 over the vcm600 now as i was considering it aswell, but the zero8 is discontinued...
Re: Vestax VCM-600 , $899 ??!!!
The Zero 8 is being discontinued as it was a phenomenal flop from Korg. Poor build quality, poor sound quality, workflow issues, etc.
