Beta Testers Does Live 8 Add Any Track Comping Features ?

Post by EgAD » Tue Feb 24, 2009 10:23 pm

right now when I'm recording in arranger view I select a punch in point, no punch out point, and loop the section I want to keep going over for my takes. when i'm done I stretch out the track and select a take I like.

does Live 8 add anything easier, more elegant, more functional than this process to either the arranger view or the session view?

yes anything like such, but basicly i'm asking did live 8 add anything whatsoever outside of the technique i described that we all already use?

or have there been no changes in this area?

Other than crossfades, I'd say no new comping functions.

No. This is still something done much better in traditional linear DAWs. Logic, Cubase, Sonar and Protools are all better specified for this at present, but I dare say that Ableton probably have plans down the line for better comping features... they are still more 'creativity' orientated right now, although adding a limiter, multiband compressor, group tracks and crossfades on audio tracks in arrangement are a step towards getting the 'bread and butter' processes of other traditional sequencers added in.
