Re: U2....
I've never been what you can call a U2 fan but I always felt that they got interesting with achtung baby and zooropa. Big hits before and after but those albums were much more satisfying to me.
They just bore me now. I always check out what the're doing but am always disapointed.

Oh lord yes!!LoopStationZebra wrote: The whole aspect of them 'discovering' American Blues and then presenting this newfound genre to the world was painful.
At least spinal tap was supposed to be funny.

Re: U2....
"Elvis Presley and America" is the ninth track from U2's 1984 album, The Unforgettable Fire. This song was almost entirely a spur of the moment creation. Musically, the song takes its instrumentation from an altered backing track of "A Sort of Homecoming". The vocals are the result of producer Brian Eno encouraging lead-singer Bono to improvise lyrics while listening to the music for the first time. During the sole performance, Bono assumed that this was a rough cut—something that could be tightened up, altered and corrected later. However, it was the pure improvisation and continuity of performance (as opposed to editing together several performances into one piece) that Eno was interested in, and it is this track that ended up on the final product.LoopStationZebra wrote:Yeah, I do love Unforgettable Fire. The addition of Eno was genius.
My favorite U2 song.
Re: U2....
New album sounds like they're running out of ideas fast. Some nice Eno touches on it, but even Enos stuff sounds a bit too much like a car commercial at this stage.

I'd prefer to think that car commercials are starting to sound like Eno's stuff, but your point is taken.jesso wrote:... but even Enos stuff sounds a bit too much like a car commercial at this stage.

Hi everyone i've been using Ableton since version 4 and although I've been a frequent visitor over the years I've never been overly motivated to post - usually because I find that if I have a question someone's already answered it
But my hatred of U2 has finally given me the impetus to get involved, hooray U2 have released another God awful record with no soul and pathetic lyrics (I got a submarine, You got gasoline, I don't want to talk about wars between nations - wow poignant) designed to fill enormous arenas with gawping fans throwing money at them.
Normally I wouldn't really give a rat's arse about this drivel coming out, but I am pissed that my license fee money has gone towards promoting these pricks and their new album. One of the richest bands in world got hours of free advertising paid for by the British public when there are thousands of incredible artists in the UK who have little or no avenue to get their music heard by a wider audience.
Anyway rant over
What a way to introduce myself

Any of their albums not mentioned in this thread? I'd like to name those as their best EVER...and worst.
