Receiving midi from Max.

Post by dataf1ow » Tue Mar 03, 2009 6:17 am

Hey all,

Just started messing wiht max today, and had a few questions. I would like to send the midi data I am generating in max to Live, and have been successful, but am only able to play one instrument at a time. Is there a way around this?

I'm just gonna assume that you're using IAC as your virtual midi port. In any case, even virtual ports have 16 channels (that's how the midi protocol was written) - so use the option to set different channels on the midiout object within Max. Then set up your midi tracks accordingly in Live.

Yeah, I have done that, just to get going I was using channels 1 and 2 (I was using the from MAX output though.) I guess my question is how do I arm more than one track in Live simultaneously so as to receive and play what is being generated in Max.

Time to read the manual?

Just enable monitor (or record arm) on each track you need, and set them to receive on different midi channels.

Cake.

Maybe a dumb answer, but ctrl+arm ?
You can also change this behaviour in the prefs.
