Does anyone know any good triangle players, songs or solos?

Post by chris ott » Fri Mar 06, 2009 1:04 am

It dawned on me that the triangle is one of the least understood instruments. After an extensive Google search I haven't found any triangle composers, players, or songs.

I did find one triangle solo on YouTube and the natural ADSR of the triangle was mind blowing.

Besides the mockery FOO FIGHTER's triangle solo.

Can anyone recommend a good triangle track or player?

I envision synthesizing an entire ensemble from triangle material. I'd use a single hit but I want to understand how the instrument behaves in context. Just like you can't get the full grasp of a cymbal without hearing it in context.

Alright. Minimal has now reached it's apex.

Now let's move forward.

A triangle appears in this music, if you listen carefully.

You should find lots of triangle-wizardry in the brazilian Foro-music. The rythm section mainly consists of one handdrum-player and one triangle-player and probably blows aways any mpc-beatmaker in a second.

I have recently been workign with a creative arts charity going into schools teaching music to 10year old children. Some of those were very good with the triangle. :-) Some of the maracca playing was awesome too.

triangle is great for house music -especially tribal - and a staple of latin percussion etc - often it can take a similar place to the hi-hat

I'd love to hear what you come up with

+1 for the Brazillian stuff
