Wow, Just experienced an earthquake!

Post by Sibanger » Fri Mar 06, 2009 10:04 am

It's 8.56pm in the hills east of Melbourne and just had an earthquake. It went for about 10 seconds.
We don't get them very often around hear, and that was definitely the strongest one I've ever felt.

Shook the whole house so much, I was worried that my monitor was going to fall off the desk. 8O

Farrrk!

Hope it hasn't been much stronger anywhere else around Victoria. With the bushfires, we've seen enough carnage around here for a while.

Poowong in Gippsland was the epicentre. 4.7 on the Richter scale.

Glad we don't get really big ones.

Shook the whole house so much, I was worried that my mother was going to fall off the desk.
and lol'd hard whilst drinking.
note to self: coffee is not suitable for washing out one's nostrils.

Fooking lol right back at ya Gaz!

Now you'll need a nemina to wash out your nostrils.

Hold a hose or water pistol up to your nose and squirt. You'll feel a lot better.

(I wonder what my mother was doing on my desk?)

Well, it was kinda cool, but was also freaky and a bit unnerving.

i used to live in taiwan for a while... 100% earthquake central.

the first time i felt an earthquake i was sleeping in bed without much on. i woke up and i immediately knew what it was.

for some reason my first reaction was to hold a pillow over my head and run to the kitchen butt naked. i think the neighbors saw too.

the weirdest earthquake i felt there was one which happened while i was in a recording studio that was underground. felt very wobbly instead of rattly... earthquakes are cool when theyre not too strong.

I was in California a few years back on a business trip, staying near an area that had experienced an earthquake a while back. In my hotel room, half asleep, when I heard what sounded like a very large horse galloping in the courtyard outside. My half dreaming mind was very surprised that someone would be allowing their horse to run free in a hotel courtyard, this must have been a really big horse, its hooves were practically shaking the windows.

The next morning I mentioned this loose horse phenomenon to the front desk clerk, who looked at me guardedly like "ok... you are either crazy, very stupid, both, and also from out of town" and after considering how to respond, she said simply "Welcome to California".
UTENZIL a tool... of the muse.

Earthquakes are cool when nothing falls down on you. I was in the 89 quake in the Bay Area, at a swimming pool. That fucker started sloshing like nobody's business!
