Since the web is full of .mkv files, I dare to say HD DRM is already obsolete.beats me wrote:^the analog out doesn't work either. I may have to try this $200 adaptor (booooooo) and get a HDMI switch for multiple components and see what happens. At least that's a lot cheaper than buying a new projector that can handle this shit by default.
But I still don't get why this signal passes perfectly fine to a TV digital or analog, but connecting it to a projector is some kind of violation or encription problem. Are they worried people are going to turn their home theaters into actual theaters and start charging admission?
Just read up on how these things get cracked, its so ridiculously easy.
That being said, don't spend 200$ based on my comments. My comments are an educated guess at best. I know what HDCP is, because I couldn't use my PS3 with my regular VGA screen. Despite using one of those upscaling converter boxes. Which basically take the SD signal and "make it look HD".
I just bought an HDCP compliant screen, but I needed a new one anyway. So it wasn't that big of a deal for me. And I can't say I regret having a 1680x1050 resolution on the mac.
I'd hunt some forums before you buy anything. You aren't the first person with this problem and I bet there must be some cool and cheap solutions by now.
A quick google search shows "HD Fury" at 60$, but I can't personally recommend it on the count of never having used it.
