Official Messe 09 thread... yes? no? maybe?

Post by aqua_tek » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:52 pm

Ok let's start.

Akai's on FIRE! Besides the already popular APC40, they just announced another MPC (88 key), the MPD18... and... GASP! Akai's answer to the MicroKorg... the MINIAK?!

I am guessing it is true as there is a new (yet blank) section called synthesizers on the Akai website. Busted!!!

Made in collaboration with Alesis it says. And at least on the surface, the specs bear more than a slight resemblance to that nifty little Alesis Micron... (OK, they're basically identical, except for the physical layout. But who knows what's under the hood?) Could be cool. Kinda strange move by Alesis though, looks like they'll be competing with themselves?

Alesis, Akai, and Numark are the same company. I'm sure it's essentially a Micron with a few added features. Kind of the same way the XR20 is the same thing as an SR-18, only... different. Still interesting.

OK, I had no idea. :o Interesting. And a bit sad I guess, everyone's the same company nowadays it seems...

Let's just hope that a) the keyboard and b) the vocoder is better than on the Micron. Those where my only real gripes with it. Except for its blatant lack of knobs of course. Still a great synth for its size and price.

That 88 key is out of control...

...and It doubles up as a coffee table when not in use. They should at least build an APC in or something, lots of free space...

The compact Fireface UC has been uncompromisingly optimized for highest performance under Windows and Mac OS. Based on a newly developed RME Hammerfall core the Fireface UC provides revolutionary ultra-low latencies even with multiple channels. It uses two different firmware versions with different transfer methods to remove current restrictions of typical USB audio interfaces. The unit’s operating mode Win or Mac can be changed directly at the unit at any time. Under Mac OS the Fireface’s MIDI ports are class compliant, the operating system therefore automatically uses the included MIDI driver.

Under both Operating Systems the available latencies* are simply sensational. The smallest buffer offered under Windows Vista has 48 samples, under Mac OS X 14 samples. With this RME provides a performance comparable to PCI Express interfaces - under USB 2.0.

There is talk among the people at Scratchworx that Serato is droppin' something tomorrow also and "will change the face of DVS".. I wish it's Serableton but more people are leaning towards a new box for the Serato like a SL2 or something.. TTM58??
