20% on a late 2009 Macbook Pro, with 16 tracks running on the test? Either you aren't running the test correctly or I call bullshit. Your percentage is higher in your video, and you have less going on than the test uses.

New at the forum, and I didn't find my machine in here yet, so here it is:

2. Desktop: Imac 27" i5
3. OS: Mac OS X 10.6.3
4. Ableton Live version: 8.1.3 RC
5. CPU Make, model and speed: Intel I5 2,66Ghz
6. Amount of RAM: 4GB DDR3 1066Mhz
7. Soundcard : Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Driver version: 2.0, Firmware: 1501
8. Hard disk drive speed: 7200RPM
9. Number of playback tracks: 8

I also tried at buffer setting 14 samples, no problem in playing 8 tracks, CPU meter : 41%

hey scrap. is there any chance you could do this test again but with your audio buffer set to 512 instead of 256?

i'm giving Ableton LIVE lessons to a young student, and he just bought the brand new 13" macbook pro with the 2,4 core duo processor, so i just did the test with him.

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter : 49%

same test with the NI audio 2 DJ @512 buffer size give also 49%
