The cool thing about techno still, comparing it to most jazz is the improvisation coupled with raw energy.

Just upgraded to the new MBP from a 2009 MB and I'm loving the specs from the test. :D

For a separate test, I just recorded 8O 25 instances of Reaktor 5 (each loaded with a Carbon 2 ensemble and different patches) and recorded for a few minutes: 47% CPU (NOTE: This is with no additional plugins on CH 1-25, the master bus had SSLComp > SSLEQ > SSLComp > Vintage Warmer 2 > L2)

I was set at 48000 sample rate, 180 buffer size, 6.19 ms latency overall for the Reaktor test.

How are you getting this kind of performance? Mine is a 2.0 Ghz MBP15 (current gen) and I get about 25-30% usage.

Also your results are better than some desktop sandy bridge cpus that are clocked faster!

7) Soundcard (and driver version if you know it)? Motu 8pre
8) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know)? 7200 rpm
9) Number of playback tracks? 8

I tried again with 16 tracks

) Ableton Live CPU Meter % (if it bounces around, please list the peak)20% peak 21%
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? Mac Pro 5,1
3) Operating System? OS X 10.6.8
4) Ableton Live version? 8.2.6
5) CPU Make, Model, and Speed?2 x 2.66Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon

For shits and giggles I tried it with 32 tracks and got 32% and again with 64 tracks 47% and when I duplicated the 8 tracks the last time i did it during playback.

Went up to 96 tracks peaked at 66% hoovered around 64% And I did pretty much all of this without stopping. It does say at the top live 6-7 though thats the right test correct?
