are you cheating here???

i can´t imagine your t8100 has the ability to play the 8tracks of the test with ableton´s meter showing only 32% (btw my quadcore xeon workstation shows 20% in live playing the 8tracks).

look at my vostro1310, it´s specd with the same cpu as yours:

1) Ableton Live CPU Meter: 50%
2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model: Laptop, Dell Vostro 1310
3) Operating System: Win XP Pro 32bit
4) Ableton Live version: Live 8.0.1
5) CPU Make, Model, and Speed: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor T8100, 2.10GHz
6) Amount of Ram: 4GB
7) Soundcard: Yamaha Go46 *1, Driver version 1.0.0
8.) Hard Disk Drive Speed: 5400 RPM
9) Number of playback tracks? 8 Tracks, buffer setting: 529 samples (the factory driver of the audio interface doesn´t allow a 512 Samples setting)
Honestly, that's what the meter said. It jumped to about 41 a couple of times in the first 2 bars, but when it settled it was a constant 32.

Promise. I hardly had any other processes running at the time though.

Other apps won't affect the cpu meter in Live, as it only reports what Live is using. I use coolbook, which I've noticed really helps keep the cpu meter down. Maybe that's it. Or maybe I was only playing 6 tracks. Hmmm, pretty sure I remember moving it to the 8 track portion. Actually this brings up a point - Tarekith, the file should default to 8 tracks in case people don't notice that. It currently starts at 6.

1. Ableton Live CPU Meter: 70%
2. Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model: WHITE APPLE MACBOOK
3. Operating System: OSX 10.5.5
4. Ableton Live version: 6.0.1
5. CPU Make, Model, and Speed: INTEL DUO 2.0 GHz
6. Amount of Ram: 1.25GB
7. Soundcard (and driver version if you know it)? : Internal
8. Hard Disk Drive Speed: 5400rpm
9. Number of playback tracks: 8

However - using Live 8.01 - Cannot play back 8 tracks without constant glitching. Need to increase buffer to over 1000. Then = 70%

Live 8 plays 6 tracks at 66%
Live 6 plays 6 tracks at 68%

Something strange going on here. Live 8 seems quite heavy with high track count and low buffer...

I think we can discount the last information given that's it's not based upon using a legit version and is likely to go 'boom' at any second
Imaulle wrote - I use a pirated copy of Ableton. but right now, music is just a hobby. other then my roommates, no one has ever heard anything I've created or done with Ableton. I don't have the time right now with school/work to spend more then an hour or two a week playing with Ableton. One day though, I do plan on putting lots of time into it, and plan on creating stuff that I actually want people to hear, and I will for sure pay for a legit copy because Ableton does deserve the money. but I can't justify paying for something I use one or two hours a week.. I recommend Ableton to all of my friends who are wanting to learn to produce and I've actually gotten 3 people to buy it. Ableton > don't bother flaming because I don't care what you think. just sharing my story...
This dude/douche (delete as appropriate) has the money for a top of the range computer system (according to his specs at least, but could be full of BS) yet refuses to buy a copy of Live. Therefore his results are null and void, as you cannot trust warezed software to be accurate and giving accurate readings.
