6) Amount of Ram? 2GB
7) Soundcard (and driver version if you know it)? Novation X=Station Driver V1.28 (samplerate @528 not able to set 512)
8) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know)? 5400rpm
9) Number of playback tracks? 8

Been running the latest beta of Windows7 in the last few days so thought I would do a comparison, im actually quite surprised that there is a improvement in performance and I havent optimized the OS yet as its full of processes that probably dont need to be running.

2) Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? HP DV8395EA LAPTOP
3) Operating System? WINDOWS 7 Build 7100 32bit
4) Ableton Live version? 8.01
5) CPU Make, Model, and Speed? Intel CoreDuo T2500 @ 2.00Ghz
6) Amount of Ram? 2GB
7) Soundcard (and driver version if you know it)? Novation X=Station Driver V1.28
8) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know)? 5400rpm
9) Number of playback tracks? 8

Next step once i have some money in my pocket is to find some new faster harddrives to see how they improve the performance

I want to stay in the lead ;)

Getting a Q6600 run at 4GHZ is somewhat impressive though...at least if it's air cooled. Is the system really stable at that speed?

i am so impressed on how easily a core 2 duo can handle 8 of these tracks.. i can't wait to get my new book :)

(geezus i have the same specs as you except my 2.0ghz is a single core amd.. i get 215% on 8 tracks)

Wow, based on the last 2 submissions, Live doesn't utililze 4 cores too much better than 2. Sure there could be other factors too.. Maybe it could be the fact of the SLC

I think it's not too bad compared to people with more powerful machines, but I must say I followed this guide and it helped a lot http://tarekith.com/assets/XPTweaks.htm

Oh and buy the way don't use Vista for doing music guys : I used to have it preinstalled on my laptop but it was a waste of performance, for making music on live.

This was a faulty measurement, real result was 18%, read posts below

8 ) Hard Disk Drive Speed (if you know)? 7200Rpm 500Gb WD Caviar

So it seems I got the best score till now .. not

These Nehalems are nice beasts. Is yours running stock or have you overclocked it?

And... how can you still be running a 32 bits OS with that amount of memory? :o
