There's a really really nice greenish/clear edition of "Hunky Dory" on vinyl. Happy hunting.

if you grab the Nirvana Unplugged tab for that song it's pretty easy to learn and loads of fun to play, even has two sections where you play the major scale "oh no, not me... I never lost control" does the F major and C major scales. start with their version then make it more Bowie-esque.

nice picks on songs, I too am a n00b w/Quicksand, very cool. me thinks that's what Genesis was thinking with their early albums. ???

I've not listened to that album for years, as I wore my vinyl to dust through over-play.

Listening to Quicksand again, it's interesting to think how the instrumentation, arrangement and production would be done now. Very differently I'm sure.
It would probably come out sounding like a 'Killers' track. It would have production 'tricks' all over it and be complete arse.

You may get some different perspective on it if you check out the demo version on the 1990 re-release of HD. Even in it's rawest form it's incredibly powerful. I probably would've been like, "Fuck it. Sounds good. Nice job Mr. Bowie." I'm glad they added the other instruments though.

Heroes - it sounds so fucking huuuge and epic

Queen Bitch - rough, rock n roll, attitude

Changes - look out all you ock n rollers

hell, I could go on 'cause Bowie is a favorite of mine. right there with T Rex and Velvet Underground.

What happened to music? Who, currently, can compare to these legendary acts?

Recently been turned on to Ween, good stuff.

As for Bowie, he has certainly been consistently great for such a long time, though i'm not so keen on his later stuff.

Queen Bitch
Young Americans
Memory of a free festival
Breaking Glass
even Little drummer boy with Bing Crosby is pretty excellent

in fact you may as well just print out his discography up until the mid 80's.
