Is my Suite 8 Library complete?
Is my Suite 8 Library complete?
Just purchased Suite 8 and downloaded everything under "Live 8 and Suite 8" from http://www.ableton.com/livepacks
When I try to install Session Drums Update I am told that it's an update that needs to be installed from a previous version (obviously). Is Session Drums downloadable, or does it come in the box? Also, does EIC2 come with Suite 8 or do I need to download that as well? I'm reading that it contains 15gb of samples but my Library folder is only 3.81 gigs.
When I look at what's installed in my Library (in Ableton Preferences) I don't see EIC2 or Session Drums.
Just want to make sure I have everything that's included. Thanks!

Re: Is my Suite 8 Library complete?
yeah they only come in the box version, which is a bit of a bummer. I wish you could purchase them both for a nominal fee for those that have the download.
Re: Is my Suite 8 Library complete?
both EIC2 and Session Drums are only part of the BOXED live suite. that's why it's substantially more expensive (well that and a paper manual). Both of those items take up loads of disk space and I'm not convinced they're worth it. download is good enough for me (and has TONS of stuff anyway).Nikos T wrote:Just purchased Suite 8 and downloaded everything under "Live 8 and Suite 8" from http://www.ableton.com/livepacks

Thanks guys! I ordered the boxed version but was confused because this was all I saw with an asterik on the info page:
440 MB of abstract, experimental loops from renowned music software pioneers Cycling '74 *
Over 400 loops and samples from Zero-G *

I do wish there was an option to download them for us that've bought the box though. Would be convenient at times.
On the other hand, I got my suite box shipping confirmation mail only a few business hours after placing my order - and I already have them DVD's since L7... So I really have very little to complain about!

I find Session drums to be very useful. The multi-mic kits mean that anytime I need to recreate a particular kit sound I have a good possibility of actually getting close to it.mholloway wrote:

EIC may not be the absolute best set of samples ever, ever, but it's pretty useful in most cases and for €30 or whatever it is, it's the right value for money. (Box = €70 gets you Session drums, EIC and a manual, some stickers, plus a silvery mini-frisbee with 'Ableton Live version 8' screened on it)
I use Session Drums almost every day, so I'd say it's useful.

EIC2 is 7.9GB of data. Session Drums is 11.9GB. You're sure you want to download them?slirak wrote:I do wish there was an option to download them for us that've bought the box though. Would be convenient at times.

I've got me one fat internet connection!ark wrote:EIC2 is 7.9GB of data. Session Drums is 11.9GB. You're sure you want to download them?slirak wrote:I do wish there was an option to download them for us that've bought the box though. Would be convenient at times.
Theoretically, I could download that in an hour, give or take a few minutes. Not everybody have a connection that fast of course (60 megabit) but then again, 100 megabit isn't unheard of these days, they build it into many newer apartment buildings. Bandwidth is getting cheap.
Whether Ableton would like to invest in the bandwidth needed to make this feasible for a large number of users is another question of course...

Uaah! Yes it is! - I'm still at 384/64 kb here in the German countryside . Download of the "small" 380 MB Live8-download takes about 3 1/2 hours here...Rave wrote:That's a lot of pornslirak wrote:
