They all sound very similar to my ears.
Either the Abe's are running out of ideas, or I just don't know what I'm doing.

but in all seriousness. overdrive and staurator are kind of easy to grasp (except for the advanced waveshaper options in sat) but i have no idea how dynamic tube works.

Dynamic Tube simulates a vacuum tube amplifier which generates 2cnd harmonic distortions when overdriven.
It also compresses large signals a little. You control the quality of the tube amp with A,B,C and the clipping points with the bias. The envelope amount allows the volume of the input to control the bias.
These would typically be used in guitar and rock band sounds, but naturally use them as you wish.
If you don't drive it into distortion you may not hear much of an effect.
Vinyl distortion uses some type of physical model of the even and odd harmonic distortions unique to the vinyl LP, and can also generate random noise in the form of clicks and pops. Two distortions - the Pinch effect of the inner grooves of the LP and the tracing distortions which generate some high order harmonics at high frequencies.

thanks dude. and yes, its sometimes hard to make dynamic tube to make any discernible difference in the audio unless you drive it to the max. which means either my hearing is not sophisticated enough, or the plug-in could use some curving of its parameters

It's supposed to model a vacuum tube amp - it should do nothing unless stressed. Typically it is guitar stabs that overdrive it.

You can say they all apply a similar distortion effect to some extent depending on the setting, but it is how each allows you to control when it is applied and the character thereof that differs substantially between all of them.
if you open up your info window, and mouseover all the various controls for each, or even use the index in the manual to locate the pages that refer to these items. it may be that a whole new world of information is revealed: but I'm not sure, you'll have to try it.

True to some extent. Some are linear across a wide range, like the Dynamic Tube, some are specialized at certain frequencies, like Vinyl distortion.
But Saturator is special - if you use its waveshaper function you can get some truly outstanding amounts of distortion.
