OT: I totally want a mopho

Anyone have one of these? I've been wanting to buy actual hardware again (gasp). But I'm looking for something cheap and fun (knobs == fun).

This might just be the thing.

had mine for a little over a month right now, don't regret the purchase one bit... software editor is easy to use, doing everything on the mopho itself is simple enough, and not bad once you get used to it. sound is very nice (imo), and the price is good. not the most versatile synth, but what it does, it does well. spend a bit of time getting comfortable with it, i've actually created a group track in live 8, where i can route my keys or pads for playing, and a nocturn midi map for a couple of more knobs- just drag in my mopho track and play away... i've had a go at some of the presets, but it is sooo much fun to just adjust parameters willy nilly, to see what can happen. lots of modulation possibilities, and 4 lfo's, the thing is capable of extreme noise ( :D ), biting leads, and nice bass. not so great for pads, or evolving textures, whatever the fuck that means, unless your idea of evolving textures is squelch to mega screech :)
i wouldn't go into it thinking "knobs=fun", it ain't a prophet '08, but it is quite fun, none-the-less. i'd def recommend if you want some cheap, analog goodness to add to your palate, esp if you have the money kicking around. there are some cool vids floating around on youtube, a few have been posted here, on the forum.
check one out in person if you get a chance, to me the biggest negative i've found thus far, is the ugly color  :P

Its a bass monster. Ive never heard such bass frequencies. He's got attitude. Also great for percussive noises and sequences - the envelopes are surprisingly punchy. I think they tuned things a bit more than the P8.

I wrote a review on this for DV in London at their request - can be found here:

Very good little mono synth :)

I love that little yellow bitch! I've been using it on every track since I bought it. It's actually quite deep with the editor.

Once I polish my engineering skills a bit more, I want to design a simple monophonic midicontrolled synth kind of like this for under $200. As cheap as the DS Mopho is, I think that it is now possible to offer an even cheaper analog synth. The problem is I'm no Dave Smith. Dave Smith has always been cool about offering affordable options of his brilliant designs. The evolver is a real bargain too.
