Not their best but certainly not their worst! I agree in as much as it took a few listens for it to all fall in place.

Looking forward to seeing them live in May!

I'm also enjoying this live studio version of 'comeback' from the album.

interesting response - might have to check it out.

Violator had such a "clean" mix - the instrument parts all fit together extremely well. Everything after that sounded very "noisy" to my ears, sometimes to great effect like "It's No Good" and "Walking In My Shoes" but mostly it just sounded like a muddy mess.

Might have to check this out.

I quite like it. listened to it a couple of times this morning and it is a grower. suond design is great, but the songs require a bi tof effort to get really in to.

ALso been listening to heartbreaks album, Lies. Now that is a great funky album, *taps foot*

the think about depeche mode is that they release ok albums, but there are always 2 or 3 CLASSIC songs on each album that are always highly memorable.

Still growing on me, but I rather like it. With or without Vince Clarke, with or without Alan Wilder, in my opinion they're one of those bands that even their crap albums wind up being better than a lot of other artists' best work. Violator's probably my all-time favorite, with Playing The Angel and Music For The Masses not terribly far behind.

I am absolutely loving this album after a few more listens myself.
It plays well as an 'ALBUM' which is a rare thing these days.
That said give some of these more than 2 listens at least ...

Hole to Feed - this one will kick ass live IMHO

Corrupt - this one grows on you heaps also.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-0hjyeZCac

Peace - warning this one is a real grower after 4 or 5 listens.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kooVitKNLV8

Jezebel - excellent vocals by Gore.

In Chains- Album opener (sound quality not as good as the CD here though)Fucking love this track none the less - that distorted wah wah guitar is pure gold.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6aoXNt8aBw

Wrong - great video Clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bsXOcK9_Cw

Perfect - hated this 4 days ago and it's fast becoming a fave now :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLTLEpDHuj4

That said it's not an 'immediate album' IMHO which is a good thing.
Just can't believe people still live in Alan Wilder & Flood land myself though <shrugs>.
Somewhere between a rock and a hard place is actually nowhere.

Got to agree with those who said the album was a grower - wasn't keen at first, but really enjoying it now. Though I notice I'm liking the Gahan-written songs a lot as well as the ones that sound more like his last solo album.
