holy crap, Lollapalooza looks great this year

Post by beats me » Tue Apr 21, 2009 7:08 pm

It's been well over a decade since I found this interesting. Damn.

BUT also last I knew of this I thought it was a travelling tour and this looks like it's just in Chicago. Am I missing something? 8O

In 2005 they changed it to a one-city thing.

It does look bad ass this year, I agree...

*edit* in 2004 it got cancelled or whatever due to poor ticket sales. Then in 2005 they made it in Grant Park and signed a deal where it stays there through 2011.

Line-up looks pretty solid. But, same as every year, its a bit more $ than I wish to spend on concert tix. And if Radiohead wasn't enough to get me out there last year, I don't think this year will be any different.

Ohhh yeah Radiohead was there last year, weren't they. Man, the ticket prices are fucking brutal though.

This looks like the perfect blend of old and new artists. I was all set to go to Coachella this year until I saw the lineup, most the big legacy acts I didn't care about, the main legacy electronica acts pussed out and did DJ sets (I hate that shit), and 85% of the acts I've never heard of.

That kind of blows that now that they have a lineup a lot of people would go see they do it in 1 city, but they probably couldn't get all those acts to do a full tour together. And no offense to the Chicago forum members, but that's one of the last places you want to be for a mid summer outdoor festival. Hot + humid = not fun.

This line up is awesome!

Depeche headlining at Glatonbury (in the UK) would never happen!

Ha...but we love our bitter winters and swampy summers here. Seriously though, Chicago is a blast in the summer.

105 degrees in the shade is not my idea of fun,
that's what it was at the last one i worked at a couple years back.
the proximity of stages is a real problem at grant park, it becomes a volume war.
that does look like a decent lineup though...

Would be cool to see Janes addiction for nostalgia sake ( i loved that band in the late 80's early 90's) I hope they have good energy, I understand it has been quite tense since Eric Avery signed back on......

I've heard Chicago can be a lot of fun but you guys really need to fix that broken thermostat problem.

Jesus Christ that's a great fuckin' bill. Last year was pretty damn good, but this year looks just amazing.
I'm definitely getting those three days off work. You are all invited to my apartment for post-lolla parties. :D

The one city thing sure sucks but I guess they are shooting for the Coachella effect or something. Saw the big L back in '93 with my honey before we got married. That was a killer show. I remember it was so hot that the vendor people were selling water for 5.00 a bottle! That was an excellent show though. First time I saw Les or Tool either one.
