The composer is Akira Ifukube. He's done lots of soundtracks to Toho films.

Dude. Rent a movie and sample it. How much easier do you want it? Creating/Finding your sounds should be part of the process.

thanks very much for your help sleepwalker but I'd like to find a good library for my ipod so that I may listen to it, I'm not looking for sample bits. I do however whole heartedly agree with you, creating/Finding ones sounds should be a part of the process of indulging in this wonderful artform we call.............the gift of music, as seen on television and heard on radio across the states of this great nation hitherto but not before unto now then un for to the entire world wide net including the interweb till death do us part as I see fit upon this can of salty spam we make our stand, forever more and not a moment longer we shall'nt.

Toho films made all the cool Japanese monster movies of the 50's, 60's, & 70's. I think Akira Ifukube did most of the soundtracks.

The original 'Godzilla' ('Gojira' -1954) is not only a great flick (much darker than subsequent Godzilla films), but also had an excellent soundtrack by Mr. Ifukube.

Another good Japanese sci-fi with an interesting soundtrack is 'The H-Man' 1958. Music by Masaru Sato. Good stuff.

Enjoy!
