What I usually do:
1. create my musical tracks using Ableton Live (software instruments and occasional guitar).
2. Mix in Live and export 24-bit stereo track.
3. Import into Pro Tools and do vocals, etc in Pro Tools.
4. Mix, bounce, master, the end.

Are there any considerable pros or cons to doing it this way, as opposed to importing each individual track into Pro Tools and doing all the mixing there?

I like using software instruments, automation, etc in Live, and I like doing vocals, comping, etc. in PT.

Just wondering if there are any considerable pros or cons to doing it this way, as opposed to importing each individual track into Pro Tools and doing all the mixing there?

Here's what we do:

1. Compose in Live
2. Record in Live
3. Pre-arrange in Live
4. Bounce individual tracks to .aiff
5. Final arrange in Logic
6. Mix and master in Logic
7. Record some CDs

Since we don't have a drummer currently:

8. Send individual drum .aiffs back to Live
9. Arrange for live performance
10. Get drunk and rock out on stage with our guitars (playing along to recorded drum tracks, some synth parts, and effects)

Works great!
