Propellerheads to release DAW
Propellerheads to release DAW
The Props are releasing a brand new DAW, seperate from Reason, with full Audio features.
Appearantly this is going to be something special. Kinda long overdue.

Not that I care (unless it has its own version of session view).
Just spreading the good news.

Re: Propellerheads to release DAW
Isn't it a little late in the game for them to make a move like this? I could have seen it 3 years ago, but with logic 8, dp 6, live 7-8 and such, Is there even room for them to play in the league?

Live, Reason, Moog sub phatty, Moog sub 37, Ozone 6, guitars, Pedals, proper ergonomic sitting posture, french pressed coffee with a pinch of cardamon.

Re: Propellerheads to release DAW
Ah. Now I feel weird. I am a long time reason user and just bought live to use as my DAW in combination with reason as an instrument.
It works great and feels like it was just meant this way. Even propellerheads always said, that there is no need to implenent audio in or VST support themselves as there are plenty very good solutions already out there (like live).
Now that I finally made the jump they say otherwise? Gna.
But don't get me wrong. Live is AWESOME and I enjoy every minute of it. It's just the way those events happened for me that make me feel a little weird. ^^
Greetings,

Re: Propellerheads to release DAW
Big question will be if it has AU or VST support, External MIDI for hardware, advanced audio editing etc. or is it going to be a quick simple add on that can rewire with Reason so you can record vocals and guitar etc?
Sold my license to Reason last year.

They should call it DAngly Wires
Re: Propellerheads to release DAW
I have nothing against Propellerhead, but I see a problem with them trying to create a DAW. They should just concentrate on Reason. Cakewalk tried to have more than one major product, and they ended up abandoning one (Project 5 hasn't seen an update in about 3 or 4 years). If the Props spread themselves thin, one of their products will get neglected. The big DAWs such as Digital Performer, Logic, Cubase, Sonar, and of course Live are light years ahead of anything the the Propellerheads could release as far as development goes.
How would they compete?
Most DAWs now are now coming with more included instruments that are actually quite usable, so maybe the Props feel some pressure????
I think they should just stick with Reason.

the same could be said when Live 0.1 was announced..kb420 wrote: How would they compete?
who says this new daw will be what you expect it to be? they might come with some new concept..
but even if its just a 'traditional' concept that integrates better with reason than all other daws do, I think its worth a lot for reason users..

Re: Propellerheads to release DAW
I am really looking forward to something new. Maybe they will surprise us with a total new idea.
But probably it will be a fotorealistic simulation of a studer taperecorder and a Neve-console.
