I've been having pretty great luck with the demo; in fact, I would have to say that I'm at a creative peak right now, thanks to some of the new features in 8, and the general lust I feel while using it. It gets a little weird sometimes, like particularly it seems to slow down a little when it's been open for a while, but much less so in the 8.0.1 demo than in the betas I was testing several weeks ago. And zero crashes, except in conjunction with a couple specific third-party VSTs.

But my main reason for stepping into this thread is just to point out that anyone who uses a .0 version of anything, essentially for their *business*, is plainly stupid. If it's mission-critical, why in the fuck would you Switch 'n Bitch? While I *have* version 8 (I'm going to promptly buy the suite when my demo expires in three days, BTW), I've kept my old library and live set intact for 7. In the next couple months we'll be up to 8.0.4, the big quirks will be eliminated, and *then* you switch your crucial material to the new version. See how that works?

The first release is obviously the most buggy, so if that's an issue wait for a couple of months. Me, I already switched during the beta phase. Simply too many good toys, grooves, groups and the new warping bussiness. It doesn't currently record Nocturn VST automation moves, sure it'll get fixed. Best friggin update ever!

@OP i sympathise, but after using sonar for the last 4-5 years, ableton is a much better bet. but regardless of the brand any .01 release is gonna fuck some of us sideways till the bugs get ironed out. go bacl to 7 and take deep breaths cos you can bet abes are as aware of our problems as we are, and are probably workin on a fix as we type (i hope and pray 8O )

its also gotta be said that out of all software daw makers cakewalk and ableton are shitloads better than ALL others...

i earn my money and spend it on something that i expect to work,so with that in mind nob rash,if it aint workin right then a refund should be available-so before u assume that we are being dramatic -its real money being spent ,and hard earned- for something that aint working- our complaints are just -your sarcasm is lame and inappropriate refix your attitude or are u merely playing the lame devils advocate? another timewaster i presume

Dear Insultmeister,

It is not a fucking car, it is version zero software. If you don't expect version zero software to have a shitload of bugs, it is obvious that you are incredibly unintelligent and completely inexperienced in using computer software. And therefore of no apparent use to this already-useless thread.

I think it's perfectly legit to start a thread saying that you've decided to go back to 7, and list the reasons. That's a wee bit different from what we've got here - which is a fair amount of whining about a first release (sorry ChrisSummer).

I myself am just about ready to go back to 7 for gigs. Crashes and bugs are really getting in the way of otherwise crappy performances.

But I have no illusions about starting to play out with a new version of software, and would have been shocked if I DIDN'T experience any significant issues.
