Looks awesome! Could have a lot of fun hangin out at that workstation! Did you make that desk yourself?JuanSOLO wrote:Mines not much different, got rid of a couple things, added an Octatrack.

Yes, it's kind of a prototype to see if it's actually portable.samsteeno wrote:Did you make that desk yourself?

Yeah, great set up J! I think that would lead to unemployment under my ownershipBrock wrote:This setup looks like it would be so much fun to play on, nice one JuanSOLO, I love it!JuanSOLO wrote:Mines not much different, got rid of a couple things, added an Octatrack.

i don't see many cats in some of these pictures
here's me with our current cat, in a room with no equipment. (except for some video conferencing kit)
he's got one blue eye and one green eye and has been deaf as a post since birth. kind of lucky for him in our house i reckon

Where do you need to position your head (ears) to be in the sweetspot? I suppose with $4800 speakers the sweetspot is everywherecmreal04 wrote:Tarekith wrote:Finally got my new monitors for the studio, Tyler Acoustic D2x's:

Tarekith, how would you describe the sound/experience these very impressive speakers produce compared to an average set of monitor speakers? I have a humble pair of Tannoy Reveal 6Ds.
Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...
The sweet spot is pretty wide with these it seems like so far, they're a little more forgiving on that front than the Opals were. They're also designed for a larger stereo field.
It's a much more immersive listening experience for lack of a better word, especially on the low end. The Opals are no slouch here, I chose them specifically for how they handled the lows actually. But the D2x's just represent so much better down low since they are a more full-range speaker.
The highs aren't quite as bright as the Opals, but these take 200 hours to burn in and I'm only 60hrs or so into them. I'll wait to judge too much more until I know they are settled in. It sounds like hocus pocus, but the D2x's already sound a lot better than when I first started listening to them.
In the meantime it's only one press on the Hilo to toggle between the Events and the Tyler's, so I'm jumping back and forth on them a lot right now.

Wow, they're monsters. What sort of a floor do you have in that room?
Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...
155lbs each, was quite fun getting them up on the 3rd floor where my studio is
The floor is standard sub-flooring, but the Tylers have 1" brass spikes for feet so not much gets transmitted through.

Obviously your mastering service is going well.

Better than I ever expected, though still a long ways from where I want to be

Very cool! I know a few people who opened recording studios locally and it's always a pleasure to see that they're busy and still around.Tarekith wrote:Better than I ever expected, though still a long ways from where I want to be

Tarekith, what's the story behind you deciding on those particular speakers? Had you heard them somewhere?
