I'm trying to share my drum beats with a friend who uses a different DAW by exporting and importing midi files. While playing around with this I've run into a roadblock that I can't seem to solve.
I created a simple one bar drum beat, right clicked on the clip, and selected export midi clip, and saved it to my desktop. This seemed to work as I now see a new .mid file. However, I am not able to drag and drop that new file into an Ableton midi track. Not sure what to do. I would expect that Live would be able to import the same file that it just created by exporting. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using Live Suite 9.7.5 on Windows 10.

Re: Importing .mid files
You sure you aren't trying to drag it back in on an Audio track (not MIDI)?
Should work by drag/drop to either a MIDI track or just the blank space in the mixer (where it says "Drop files and devices here"

Re: Importing .mid files
I"m definitely trying to drop into a midi track. Also tried the "drop files and devices" section. I just get the "no" icon
