hello guys

i had to return some faulty gear to the store,,now i have a 56o euro "cupon"

so now i have this two choices

waldorf blofeld and dave smith's mopho

i already own a prophet 8 and a evolver wich im very happy with..was thinking on get the mopho but then comes to my mind the blofeld,,

what do you think? i know,,one is analog the other is virtual analog, different worlds..but since i already have 2 analog synth i was thinking that maybe the blofeld would be a nice complement on the set up soundwise...but i would like to hear some opinions from users around...if anyone have it or maybe another choice for the same price rank?

thanks!

If you have the prophet 8 and evolver already then I would look at the blofeld personally.

It looks like a great little synth. If you can stump up the extra cash then the blofeld keys looks great as you get extra sample ram.

Oh lord! My 'gear lust' nerve is twitching again! I'd go with the Blofeld, personally, especially as you've already got the other two belting synths.

Yeah the mopho is basically a mono prophet with no keys.

(okay the sound is a TAD different)

This is by far my preferred form factor for hardware synths these days, so this would be a hard choice for me. Something about these little desktop boxes inspires me to no end. If I HAD to make this choice, I would likely go with the Blofeld simply because I already own a desktop Evolver and thus I'd want to branch out into something very different from what I already have. I think the Blofeld is a tad more powerful as a sound design tool as well; the Mopho is certainly not short on tweakability, but it's definitely marketed as a bread-and-butter sounds box.

Good luck with the decision,

- Nick

also the blofield desktop does have 64meg sample ram exactly the same as the keyboard version...

u have to pay 99euro or something to be able to unlock it

Yeah going quite cheap those origins arnt they ;-)

I do like the blofeld idea my self. I never realised you could get the ram upgrade for the desktop version, this has got me thinking ;-)

While I'm almost all software these days, I must admit I'm having a bit of hardware gear lust myself. I've been eyeing the Blofeld. The matrix editing seems quite fast and the sound design possibilities look quite intersting.

Check thiscCool Waldorf Blofeld video (in Japanese) http://bit.ly/1zGyfm . Some great real-time programming starting at 4:37.

Get the Blofeld. The Mopho (which I own and love) is one voice of the Prophet plus a it has a sub oscilator for each oscilator. You will not be gaining anything significantally new by purchasing the Mopho.
