A bit of a Mac Boot camp help PLEASE!
Hello,
I'm thinking of loading XP on the Imac to run some software, but was wondering if anyone with experience knew the answer to this???
I have a genuine copy of XP but the disc is Pre- Service Pack 2...As far as i'm aware you can't load pre service pack 2 discs onto boot camp to then upgrade to Service pack 2.. It seems like a chicken and egg scenario here. How would you recommend proceeding. I still have a PC, would i have to create a new boot disc or something on the PC side?
Your expertise will be greatly appreciated?
Many Thanks
S.

Since you have a PC you can make a SP2 Image of XP into a new CD. It is called slipstreaming.

Is it better to run xp music apps on boot camp or parallels? regarding performance and stability.

boot camp. you would never want to run a multimedia app in an emulated environment like parallels.SubQ wrote:Is it better to run xp music apps on boot camp or parallels? regarding performance and stability.

Ok. So how does it goes comparing with, i.e., Live on OSX? how much performance do you lose?

checkout the performance testing thread on here somewhere.
I think people have done the exact test youre asking about. from memory, Live on XP via bootcamp performs slightly better than OSX on the same computer, but i think theres very little in it.
