APC 40 or Maschine ?
just bought APC 40 and am very pleased with all functionalities-hands on my clips and all-BUT how much more of a rich experience would i have as a controller for Live with Maschine ? Maschine seems to be a sort of super Trigger finger with built in sequencer capability.
I am not beat oriented in my music creation. And i have a Monome 256. SO, did i make the right choice ?

anyone comparing the two is a gear-tard. this has been going on for months, no real excuse for this kind of fuckwittery. at this point even my wife can tell you the difference.

Maschine = drum controller. Although it can be used for triggering live clips and making melodic parts, a 4X4 matrix with 8 knobs is hardly perfect for controlling Live. And the melodic parts can only be samples, so that's no really the thrust of it either. It's really meant is an MPC style drum controller and pattern recorder. And it does that well.
APC40 is the opposite. APC40 = Ableton Mixer controller. It is not good for playing drums and does not allow you to build kits, search sounds or play kits and control drum software. And unlike maschine, it is meant to control ableton's levels, sends, pans and selected device at the same time and triggering clips.

Re: APC 40 or Maschine ?
my mpc quivers in fear whenever I mention maschine. if Ableton wasn't slowly sucking me dry with Live 8, APC and max4Live the maschine would be up on the list. meh, I'll buy john gordon's in the fall when he's done with his. should be just after max4Live is released.

Re: APC 40 or Maschine ?
since i picked up my apc yesterday from GC, i now have both. they aren't comparable at all. the only thing they have in common is the fact that they both have knobs, and buttons. maschine does have the ability to function as a controller for Live with it's 16 pads but not nearly as well laid out for that as the APC is with it's 40 buttons for clip launching and the handy little green box that Live adds on screen. Go buy both! I know you want to!!!
