Between all of the bumpings and nonsense, isn't the thing today to use a tape saturation plug like j37, slate or u-he "satin" ???

Well, the reason you're doing it in the first place is to add an analog sound to it right?.. so in that sense and on that note, don't over think it. If you're really looking to have the signal only colored by the VCR itself, then you want to use the highest quality connections available to you between the VCR and your audio interface.Check1-2 wrote:Shit... Yeah, it's been so long since I've looked at a VHS player I sort of forgot it could be that easy. That does make sense though, thanks. Getting it back into the digital realm with any degree of fidelity is actually probably going to be the trickiest part.

Ok, I brought out my VHS today and recorded all of my music to it. Wow, what a relief! I mean, they just sound like magic now. All of my plugins are for sale, I'll never master w/o this again!

I see a potential business here. Back in the last century, Alesis raked in millions of dollars selling ADAT recorders which recorded digital audio to VHS tape. Now someone could offer a service to change those ADAT decks back to VHS. "For the discerning customer"
