Live + NI softsynths/softsamplers

In Mac OS X, is there a way to send MIDI from Live to NI software without using the NI stuff as a VSTi?

Not all of NI Komplete works as a VSTi. so right now as a workaround, I'm sending MIDI to a hardware synth which sends it back to my PB triggering the NI stuff.

This seems like a really dumb workaround for something that should be much easier. Can anyone help me out?

Use MIDI Patchbay to set up virtual MIDI inlets and outlets. These will be visible in Live and NI softs.
