Fireface USB? For reals? You mean the Fireface 400. Otherwise it should be called the Universalface, which is just goofy.

Well lookit that. Huh. Hmmm. So, why do you want this one over the Fireface 400, 3dot? To free up your firewire port? Does the UC seem more future-proof? Say you were running 16 microphones into it recording at 48kHz 24-bit - do you think the UC would preform as well or better than the FF400? When is this going to be availble? How come I don't know the answers to these questions?

Spool of Mogami wire and about 100 Neutrik TRS connectors to make some much needed cables to put patchbay to good use...$525.00 (beats buying them pre-made for $1200.
UAD-2 Quad Flexi (probably won't have the money for this by the end of the month)... $1800
Bunch of UAD plugs
49-Key controller.. haven't decided which one yet.
D16 Group's Silverline or maybe even Total Bundle
Max For Live after all you geeks make some massively tweaked out shit with it
Alchemy, Zebra 2, D-CAM, Sub Boom Bass, Effectrix
Upgrade to Waves Diamond (didn't have the money last month when it was on sale)

I'm missing all the good deals!

New apartment with a 2nd bedroom to set up all my shit in, this time with some acoustical treatment.

Currently on the wishlist:

• Upgrade from Live 8 to Live Suite ($329 for the boxed, dvd's have additional stuff plus it's all about stickers)
• External monitor ($250-$600ish)
• New 24/49 key controller ($400ish, getting time to put my Ozone out to pasture)
• Amp/Subwoofer Combo or Powered Subwoofer ($1500ish)

Yeah, lots of 'ish' items on there, that stuff is still far off for me. Much of our discretionary income will be directed towards a trip to Ireland in the fall for the girl and I to catch the band Muse in Dublin, and attempting to cover our bar tab (which will be enormous).

I've been looking at 49 key controllers too (time to kick the Ozonic through the hole in the Ozone). To my surprise, the one that is the most appealing so far is the Axiom Pro 49. It auto maps to Live 7 + 8, supposedly.

Ableton has added support for the axiom pro? I've been so swamped with work. I just must have missed the changelog, or whatever.

Do you have a link, where this is written down for us?

Thanks, cheers

This is the only place I've seen the proclamation that the HyperControl in the Axiom Pro maps to Live. This feature isn't the big draw for me. I've just heard good things about the keybed on it, and the layout is nice. Plus, I have a thing for white gear, so this would fit in better in my living room studio.

the latest build of SOundforge 9 (version 9.0e) runs really solid for me, especially on my Vista PC laptop.

The other versions of 9 were a bit problematic to say the least, I had to keep 8.0d around a lot longer than I would have expected.

I would also love that fireface UC, the firewire on my newer Vista laptop is a crappy ricoh controller and my old laptop's TI firewire port just died.

and an upgrade to Live 8 Suite, when they got the bugs ironed out ...

only problem now is I am as broke as a 30 year old Yugo that never had an oil change ...
