Essential Instruments 2 collection-same as with liveSuite7?

Post by db2 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:44 pm

Am I missing something or is the essential instruments 2 collection that I see advertised with live 8 suite the same collection that came with live 7 suite?

If I upgrade to 8 suite am I only really getting collision and latin percussion as add ons?

umm, on a related note, I have a stupid question:

Is the EIC 2 that comes with Live 8 box the same as the EIC 2 that came with the Live 6 box.

Common sense would dictake that if they're both called "EIC 2" that they're the same version obviously..

Yes, this issue definitely needs clarification. I was really expecting the 8 suite to come with EIC 3!

If you have EIC and you install Live 8, it updates a number of the samples in EIC. I think that's part of the reason that the installation download is so big.

Does anybody from Ableton still monitor and respond on these forums or is it rare these days?

Yes, that's correct.

New in Suite 8 are:
- Collision + Corpus
- Latin Percussion
- new sound library
- boxed Suite ships with loops from Loopmasters and Cycling'74
- new Operator (*)

If you already own Suite 7 and don't neccessarily need the aforementioned Suite add-ons, you can simply buy the normal Live 8 upgrade. The instruments you have received with Suite 7 will still work fine in this case.
(*) Operator automatically turns into the new Operator, regardless if you buy Live 8 or Suite 8.

If you already own a boxed Suite 7, the price difference between the Live 8 and Suite 8 upgrade is 30 EUR. You might check the demo first and then decide if you need the new Suite additions and if they are worth the 30 EUR extra. Bear in mind that they are much more expensive if you buy them individually.
