im not upgrading to live 8 until

Post by thumperjack » Fri Jun 12, 2009 7:33 pm

UNTILL I CAN RECORD cLIP ENVELOPE automation IN SESSION VIEW. this is rediculous. for real.

there are things in live 7 that i still don't take advantage of, and this upgrade price is enough to get me akoustic piano or most of my Superior Drummer crossgrade. fugedabowtit.

Ableton has stated that this would take a major overhaul of the code.

it may never happen.

have fun with Pro Tools!

you wont be upgrading to 8 then.

in other news, i refuse to purchase max for live until someone from cycling 74 gives me a blowjob. I will travel for it. For the estimated cost of upgrade, i could get at least 10 blowjobs on the street. fuggetaboutit.

nobody knows man, not even the people at Ableton and Cycling 74. it's full blown max and msp, so it will be a few hundred dollars, no doubt. there's no need to buy it.

try some googling and hit up the cycling 74 site.

hmmmm i dont think its worth ripping up good code for but i do think that session view automation is an area that needs work in this otherwise beautifully crafted peice of software

So stop being a drama queen, skip the thread tantrums, and just sit the version out. I've skipped a couple Live versions along the way (3 and 6, I believe), combination of features not compelling me and not having the spare $$ to upgrade simply because there's a new version out.

Actually, in retrospect, I wish I had not upgraded to Live 7. It was a worthy update and all, but only a couple months after I finally grabbed it last fall, Live 8 was announced and I got nailed for another upgrade tax. Had I just stuck with Live 5 for a couple more months, I could have upgraded once for $230 or something instead of getting hit for $180 & $190.

It's a minor complaint, though. I'm enjoying the new features quite a bit, and for the first time in a while am diving into the new Live version really early in the release cycle.
