I'm gonna be 40 tomorrow...

Post by UKRuss » Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:39 pm

8O

You know, I'm really chilled about it and really excited, like I haven't been for a birthday since i was like 8 or something.

But I am having these strange urges to ditch my facebook page and stop writing crap dance music, focusing back on my guitar based 'mature (read: dad rock) music.

I'm not having any midlife crisis feelings yet although i do have a hankering for a Harley and some tats.

Anyways, I am going to get right pissed up tomorrow and let the kids pamper me all day. :D 8)

40...Jebus. How the crivens did that happen like? 8O

19. I loved being a teen, and a student type age...the only downer was having no money. I like having a bit of cash now.

I loved my 20s and 30s too though...shit, frankly i just LOVE life!

I was chatting to my dad the other day, we went and did a parachute jump for his 60th birthday (2 mile freefall - it was more than awesome).

Anyway he was saying that 1. he doesn't feel any older than when he was in his 20's, and 2 he has got happier the older he's got.

I kinda think the same, life just gets better the older you get. I would love to have had the knowledge that I have now when I was 19 but, well at the end of the day that's not how it works. young ignorant and thinking you know everythign vs learning how littel you did know, I know what suits more for me :)

And the best bit is about being a lil older is that you can go 10-15 years either side of your age with the laydeez (as long as it's legal obviously) if you are a bloke and it's fine. . .

man there's dudes in their 70s that would give their right arm to be 40, thats just a young whippersnapper to them. . .

It's all relative i reckon.
Sounds like you have go the right attitude though Russ :)
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Congrats on your 40th.

I have nicknamed this phase in my life 'the blur years.' Not because I am constantly drunk, but because of all the shit I have to do to stay in touch with my wife and kids, keep my house in order, and earn a crust. Every time I turn around one of my kids has grown 2 inches or there is another fire to put out. One day 40 just happened 8O . No midlife meltdown for me, but I developed a hankering for travel. In my late teens I got on a sail boat and cruised the pacific among other OE travels. I thought I got it out of my system. I'm pretty sure its just a mechanism to cope with the 'blurrrrrrrrr.'

Cheers. G.

Let me know how it goes. I was thinking about skipping 40 and just holding out for 41. The last couple birthdays were lackluster and I probably should have skipped those too. As I get older I'm realizng I don't need to have a birthday just because it's that time of the year. Time to break the pattern.
