Need a new audio interface.

I had to return all of my borrowed gear and now have to purchase my own audio interface. I got impulsive and needed to record and I bought this: Image The TAPCO link.usb, because it was on sale at bestbuy for $56 dollars. So far it gives me audio drop outs every now and then and the lowest latency I can get is 21ms which is pathetic. It also doesn't seem to have any update for Vista the drivers are meant for Windows xp. I really need an interface I can run guitar rig with. Also want as little latency as possible. I have a budget of about $250 dollars or less. I'm considering the Maudio Fastrack pro although I'm tired of shitty Maudio products. If anyone has any recomendations I would appreciate it. Thanks friends and happy fathers day. Thors blessing be upon you.

Yeah, you really want to stay away from that Tapco shit. I was borrowing a $60 "mixer" of theirs for a while, and you could barely stop the piece of crap from clipping constantly.

When I get a new box it'll be a MOTU.

Native instrument's audio kontrol 1 is 250 bucks, widely used around these parts, works great for me....oh and you get a free NI synth with it (like..you can get absynth, fm8, etc -- in other words, SWEET deal).

How about the Novation Nio 2/4?

It also comes with a nifty set of zero-latency guitar effects.

Can you go FireWire? If so:

If not, you can get the USB version, but you won't get as low latency:

What's wrong with your M-Box?

I went for the Native Instruments Audio 8... I use it for my DJ setup so I can have the CD's plus laptop with Traktor and Live running. I've never had any issues so far so it gets a big thumbs up from me, only down side is that it's a bit expensive for what you get!!

+1 NI Audio Kontrol. I was hesitant because it's USB, but it has been solid.

+1 on that, i had more problems with M-audio firewire solo, then anything. Had to get a TI chip FW PCI card, (the generic one was bad, scratchy, cutting out, etc) now i own NI's Audio kontrol 1- :D

Firewire is good if you own a mac, if you're running windows it's 6 or 2x3 for USB or Firewire. I often use a USB soundcard for mixing at parties and have never had any issues.

I also have the Audio Kontrol 1 and give it a thumbs up. Save for some minor oddities I went through with it the first day I got it, it's worked fine ever since.
