Fl type sequencer in Live?

Post by drb » Fri Jun 26, 2009 5:43 am

I like the fixed measure width sequencer in FL Studio that basically like a Roland drum machine

I just don't like the MIDI sequencer in Ableton Live.
Is there a VST plugin I can use in Ableton Live that acts as a small sequencer?

i think Guru has that. it's 3rd party and you have to buy it though.

I don't mind 3rd party or buying it..
Guru may be a bit complex for what I'm after, but well work looking at, so much appreciated.
I wish the FL sequencer would easily send MIDI so I could load it as a VST.

Any other ideas anyone?

All you'd need is a sequencer style plugin that supports multiout and loading samples. I'm pretty sure Audiorealism's Drum Machine allows this.

I don't care if it supports samples.
I want to use a 3rd party VST sequencer to control Abletons instruments, so it just needs to load as a VST and send MIDI to Ableton Live.

Have you seen the max 4 live video?
It will come with what seems like a great step sequencer, if you want to wait that long.

Please not, I'm sick of FL...!!!

But I would like to see a Reason-Matrix like sequencer with envelope/gate functions and
the possibility to connect it with an effect, to make some sequenced effects too.
A kind of AudioDamage BigSeq2 just with Ableton and/or VST effects.

..., just a suggestion!
No! I'll never use the Push-App Live 9 !!!

These are nice ideas, but they seem like they send send audio only.
I want to send *MIDI* to Ableton Live , and be able to write sequences that have pitches. Drum centric one probably send a single note. The sequencer should be able to control drum ample sin Ableton Live or Simpler, or and VST I have loaded in Ableton Live.

I'm looking for just a simple sequencer, that just send it's MIDI out to Ableton Live.

I guess what I'm after is a MIDI step sequencer, that also has piano roll capabilities on each channel.
Quite similar to what FL does.

Anything?

Sorry I don't have the answer but I too want something exactly like you're describing. I think some people are misunderstanding you :)

Anyway, on a related note, anyone know if I could sequence Ableton sounds/instruments (and Reason's too, for that matter), with my Alesis MMT8:

It's been sitting here collecting dust for like 15 years since I got rid of all my hardware.

I hope it still works, really haven't made any good music since I've stopped using hardware. Maybe this would bring back some good times.

Fl Studio plugin sends audio, but not MIDI. Close though!

As was mentioned, Max for Live will have a sequencer like this that loads as a device in Live.

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
