Missing Live 4 serial number !!!

Hello, all. My first post...I hope my future posts will be more positive in tone.

Well, I recently purchased a boxed version of Live 4 from an Ebay merchant, "Clarionbusiness." The deal was originally for Live 3, but they asked me if I wanted to just pay them an extra $50 for 4, rather than having to upgrade. It seemed like a good deal, so I ordered. The merchant, by the way, has lots and lots of positive feedback.

When it arrived yesterday, sealed in shrinkwrap with a UPC sticker and new in the box, I opened it, and lo and behold, it was missing it's serial number. Nowhere in the box or on or in the CD case or anywhere is a card with the serial number sticker ! I looked and looked, and it's not there !

Has anyone else ever heard of anything like this happening ? I emailed and called the merchant, and emailed Ableton, but it's the weekend here in the States, and I haven't had a response yet.

What options do I have here ? I know it kinda screams "FRAUD", but these guys, "Clarionbusiness", sell all kinds of things on Ebay and seem to be legit. However, I cannot imagine Ableton forgetting to include a serial number in a box of software costing hundreds of dollars...

Anyone ?

the upgrade box sets have no serial number in them...you get them on line.

sounds like you've gotta contact your e-bay seller and ask for his/her live 3 or 4 serial.... because that's really what you are paying for when you purchase live.

Actually I can report a different situation Matt.

My upgrade box has arrived and it does have a Serial number. Its on a Card called "Your Personal Live 4 Serial Number Card" which is stuck to a sheet paper which starts "Dear Live User..."

On the Card itself it says "Live 4 Upgrade xxxxx etc etc"

And here is the wierd bit.....which I have mailed Ableton Support directly about.......the serial number in the Box is different to the one I was given online when I purchased the Boxed Upgrade about 3 weeks ago.

I'm waiting to hear from Ableton which Serial I should register as I unlocked 4.01 with the Serial I was given online.

...the only other option is that you are missing something Matt !

My box has an Upgrade Pack sticker on the outside and ,as I said above, clearly says that I have a Live 4 Upgrade Serial number.

As soon as I hear from Ableton I will let you know.

What about everyone else who purchased the Boxed Upgrade......have you got the Serial Number Card and if so does it contain the same serial number as the one you were given online...??

Mine has the '"Upgrade Pack" sticker on the front, and on the "dear live user," sheet, it has another sticker saying "You already received your serial number per e-Mail"

no other sign of serial number anywhere!

No stickers, serial numbers or anything here. If "Clarionbusiness" does not explain, quickly, why my purchase is missing this...I dunno...Ableton isn't exactly interested, either...well, Wells Fargo takes a while, but they will eventually refund Ebay purchases made via Visa from crooks. Monday will come around and my language will get more serious and "legal-ise", here, that is for sure.

Yup,i got my air stewardess friend to buy a boxed Live 4 Upgrade from a store in Frankfurt & it has an Unlock Serial Number in it.javascript:emoticon(':)')

My upgrade pack just arrived here in Singapore (ordered on Aug 14). I also got the "you already received your serial number via email" sticker...

er.....what i meant was it came with the serial number pasted on a leaflet inside the box & the black Ableton Version 4 sticker set which i pasted on my powerbook!

My upgrade box arrived yesterday here in japan (very quickly too...thanks abs) and it also had the "you received your serial by email" sticker. I also noticed those nice new stickers.

Quick question though. The Quick Time videos on the install CD?
I have
1 - make music with live
2 - midi intruments
4 - creating patterns

but no 3 - ?
Am i missing a video?

Love the manual!!
