Maschine Vs Stylus RMX Vs Ableton?
Maschine Vs Stylus RMX Vs Ableton?
Looking to get a new drum tool to help with beats. Based on reading and what not I have narrowed it down to NI Maschine or Stylus RMX but then I started thinking I should just pickup a PadKontrol and use Albeton build in instruments. Without demos it hard for me to see what the others are offering (I have watched the videos) thoughts on which one offers the most bang for buck? Should I just learn Ablestons instruments with PadKontrol?

IMHO,
Maschine is the way to go. Since I bought mine, I've become 10x more prolific, and it has brought back actual enjoyment in my productions. Try it at a local store if you can. Tons of fun. I had a padkontrol, but I hated always remapping it, fiddling with 3rd party add ons, etc. Plus, maschine can double as a good midi controller for live, including some apc like functions.

hi,
i would go for Maschine.you get so much for the price:a hands-on approach to beatmaking,solid-built hardware with very good pads(comparable to the padkontrol's)and knobs, absolutely kick-ass as a midi-controller as well(try out the Mackie emulation:displays tracknames,controllernames....no clipnames though, but that's no problem)
i bought it instead of the apc-40,because it gives me two large lcd screens for visual feedback, and double functionality like i mentioned above
apc-40 is something i will buy later(isn't available now anyway, plus i'm deadbroke now),they work amazing together.
try it out!

Maschine because it integrates everything. With Ableton i'd probably get the apc40 as it's a dedicated controller too. Either way you won't have to use a mouse for beatmaking. Maschine is probably the best bang for the buck.

There is a million videos on youtube about Maschine...
Which ones show why its the best choice ?
Is it really a good addition to ableton or do they do pretty much the same thing ?

Thanks for the vids, that looks way more tempting then an apc for my workflow.

hmmm look around in the used market and you can nab an mpc 2000xl for 400 and buy stylus rmx for 279 and you can get the best of both worlds.

Did anyone who owns Stylus RMX post an opinion here? I don't have RMX or Maschine, but my understanding was that they were really different -- RMX's main appeal was that it could "intelligently" mangle your beats, whereas Maschine was a hands-on drum machine.
