(OT) I start working today Eeeee!!!!

Post by abort » Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:23 am

I got a job, I start working today.

I'm scared., You know that feeling, that horrible feeling inside you when you get a new job Oohhh it sucks, knees start shaking ..'Yes Sir I can do the work!' But your about ready to drop dead.

I'm a welder by trade so most of the time I'm under a hot hood looking at a glowing line.

Wish me luck! :D :(

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say 'welder' :D

Good luck with the job matey, I know what you mean though. It doesn't matter what job or what level, you always have that first day at school feeling and regress to a 12 year old inside. All the illogical fears like your going to get found out, but it all goes away once you get involved.

good luck again and just make sure you don't weld your boss's face off

Oh right. I thought he was scared cos he was a welder but was going to do a job that doesn't involve welding. Like being a chartered accoutant or an astronaut or something.

Good luck. I'm a welder/pipe fitter, and I just got laid off Friday.

Just filed for unemployment.

Goodluck. Work slowed down here tremendously. I've been bouncing from permit jobs the pipefitters and boilermakers been throwing my way and the occasional month or so at the ship yards.

had a welder on a project i was assistant super on at disneyland. we were building an elevator at the monorail station. to meet the schedule, we had the welder there working all night because that's the only time we could get the crane into the park to set the steel. he was 30 feet up in the there, in the pouring rain, getting shocked by his own equipment every couple of minutes. and to top it off the crane had to lift the steel over the monorail track and the rocket rods track which had a live electrical current going through the third rail. good times those 24 hour a day work schedules for mickey mouse.

Yeah it pretty hard but when you practice something 1000 times it becomes easy. I did it in school but I would make a mess now. The mirror welders is what makes me go whoah! They weld out of position around pipes while looking at a mirror instead of the work piece.

That's crazy, he must have been getting a good deal out of it. I would have had to be getting 50 an hour plus time and a half after 8 and doubletime after 16. I probably still would have walked off the job up until this year.
