Robot Rock!

Post by Dombleton » Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:54 am

Could anyone give me some advice on how to achieve the synth sound on Daft Punks "Robot Rock" (aka "Release the Beast" by Breakwater).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBbasXXtrXw

I'm planning on a live version as just a short filler in a concert but cant find the right sound.

Thankyou

Apparently its "an oscillator sync patch on an analog synthesizer".

Anyone???

i think if you spent some serious time with Operator you could probably find this tone. Obviously several layers at least one has a long attack on the filter.

Try Analog with the F6 formant filter, get the envelope right on the filter, add some vibrato, a bit of overdrive, should get pretty close.

Cheers guys.

Its my first time really trying to recreate a synth sound and its tough.

I've got a good long attack going on and the vibrato kicks in slightly after the note plays, but its starting to sound like a cheap midi saxophone!

I'm using analog but I dont know what you meant by the F6 Formant filter?

Thanks for your help, please keep it coming!!!
