I purchased and am very happy with Audio Technica ATH-M50 but have also heard good things about the Sennheiser HD280.

ATH-M50 or Sony MDR-7506

I've had the Sonys for 10 years, use them nearly every day. They are the closest thing to a "standard" as there is in broadcasting and studio monitoring/mixing.

The ATH-M50's are more comfortable (to me at least) but sound great as well.

ath-m50.. i think you see the trend now.. i also have the sony-mdr7506.. great also but I prefer the AT-M50's.. I think they are more transparent... My GF has the sen HD-280 pro but it's way too tight for me, not comfortable at all..

7506s are great, but a tad more expensive then the HD 280, about the comfort of wearing, try for yourself!!

To me for example the HD 280 are the most comfy headphones ever, i can wear them easy the whole day without even noticing...

I also have to put my vote in for the Sony MDR-7506. Fantastic cans. If you wanted to save a bit of money, you could opt for the MDR-V6s as well. They should be about 30 bucks cheaper and are essentially the same. I think all they are missing is a gold minijack and that might be it... I could be wrong though

Audio Technica ATH-M50.

If you want Sony, the 7509HD is a better headphone than the 7506 and if you shop around you might pick it up for around $175.00 which would be awesome.

i reckon it depends on the size of your head! :P
i love the zenheisser hd 25's they grip good... but my dj partner has some of the sony ones discussed here that he swears by. whatever you choose make sure they're comfortable for YOU.
