BCR/BCF2000 users: new firmware available
firmware version 1.0.6 is now available on behringer's site.
it includes a new 'dead time' feature that solves the feedback problem.
though, i still don't figure out how to have the device get straight to the initial knobs/faders settings when opening a live project.
the workaround is to have a BCR/F preset for each Live set that would be in the song's initial position. i don't like this solution because i would be limited to 32 songs.
i prefer to have a single preset and to send the initial parameters values to the BCR. that's what i did up to now, but now the unit don't react to me sending CC data...
anyway, download the new firmware, and please come back here to explain how you deal with opening new sets and having the knobs/faders go straight to their initial value.
thanks!

well, i'm having troubles with this v1.0.6
you can still download and install it, as you'll be able to go back to previous versions if you're not happy.
the trouble for me, is that if i map a BCR knob to a parameter in Live (using Ctrl/Cmd -M), i can set the value with the BCR, but if i move the parameter in Live, the knob's LED won't move...
so it sucks A LOT.
it really seems as if the BCR didn't react at all with whatever i do in Live.
note: i didn't use the BCR's 'learn' function, and don't intend to do that, as it would lead to having a preset per live set.
can you guys please check if everything works fine for you?
EDIT: after rebooting both the PC and the BCR, everything seems to work much better now. the BCR reacts to parameters changes in Live as expected. and the feedback problem is solved.
so go for it!

Re: BCR/BCF2000 users: new firmware available
wasn't this feedback problem only there with the BCF with the motorised faders? or also the rotary LED one?firmware version 1.0.6 is now available on behringer's site.

i guess that's only possible if you have some kind of setting in live to transmit all current settings to midi out in 1 go?though, i still don't figure out how to have the device get straight to the initial knobs/faders settings when opening a live project.

have you all hit send update with the output set to the bcr (in live midi prefrence) then your bcr will be set the way live left it...also when you move something with a mouse(ie. volume fader) you will see the led's (bcr 2000) move automaticly
you do have to send update for each preset you usebut then it will be set for your session

@ olafmol:
the feedback problem was also for the BCRs. you needed to turn the knob about 3 times to make it go full range.
now this is solved.

yes, sending update works fine. i think (now that the unit works as expected), that the problem comes more from the way i work: i need for certain songs to have the BCR set straight to initial values that correspond to the ones of the song (like a filter being way down, or an LFO set to a precise freq).
so my Live set is saved with all these values at their initial positions. i just wanted that when opening this set, the BCR would jump to the initial values. it doesn't, i'd have to go in the preferences and send an update... not really cool in alive situation.
so my workaround is to create a midi clip (with the output to the BCR) that contains all the CC data for the intial values. it's a non-looping clip, and i set it so that it takes a few beats to go to the correct value. so when i start playing the song (the clip being on the first scene), i'll see all the knobs moving slowly to the correct initial value (looks very nice!).
it's a small supplementary work to have this clip, but at last if you move all the knobs just a bit around their initial position, you can be sure that everything will be set correctly.

yes i agree, it would be much nicer to have a "send update" button in the normal menu or on the session/arranger view, plus assignable to shortcut keys..peeddrroo wrote:so my Live set is saved with all these values at their initial positions. i just wanted that when opening this set, the BCR would jump to the initial values. it doesn't, i'd have to go in the preferences and send an update... not really cool in alive situation.
