I won the Genelec Video Contest!!!! Thank you everybody!!!!

Post by Hidden Driveways » Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:34 am

I did it! I won! Check it out:

http://www.community.genelec.com/forum/ ... p?f=3&t=79

If you haven't seen my video yet, take a look:

To see how close the contest actually was, read this blog entry:

http://www.hiddendriveways.net/

Genelec contacted me first thing in the morning via email. I wrote them back and told them I would like the 8020B speakers with the 7050B subwoofer. It's an unbelievable thing!

I know for a fact that this community is what put me over the top. You people accounted for nearly 25% of the traffic that was driven to my YouToob video, more than any other source (more than FaceBook, etc.). Google gives you all of these powerful analytic tools for this information when you post a video on YouTube, it's pretty amazing.

Does that mean that anyone can log-in to Abletonia and spam about their project --- and they will get the same response? I doubt it. I believe that I got help from this community because I have put a lot of myself into this community. It also didn't hurt that my video was half-way decent.

So, if Yamaha becomes our new overlords, I would like to inform the powers that be that is community is a strong one. We have our problems, but we also have amazing strengths that overshadow any shortcomings. Whether it's meeting Nebulae for a drink in Brooklyn for the first time after hanging out with him for 4 years electronically... meeting someone for the first time who is indeed already an old friend, or if it's something like this, where the community comes together and helps me win a contest for the right reasons, not the wrong ones. Or if we are simply helping a new member understand what the Back To Arrangement button is, I would like to use this victory as an example of why this forum should be permitted carry on as it always has. I believe we have played a big role in the success of Ableton, because this place has played such a big role in my own life. I guess it pays to be a nerd.

So thanks again. I'd also like to say that I plan on being a regular contributor at the Genelec forum. I'll see you folks around, electronically and in real life too. Now, as Bert likes to remind us, get back to the studio!
