whatever you're hearing you're diagnosing it wrong.

Wow actually i just tested it quickly on live 7 here at work and you're right. All 3 of those warp modes sound the same as long as its at the right tempo. I tested it on a very short section of a song with many sustaining sounds and just set the loop to the correct tempo with only the one 1.1.1 warp marker.
So now that i think about it, it must've been the way that i had warped those old tunes which was the reason why I was hearing the flutter even at the correct tempo. That has to be what I was diagnosing wrong.

I did some testing on Live's "summing engine" between versions. Results here:

Also, I wrote an article about how stupid it is to use the term "Sound Engine"

PS: I recently realised that the images don't show up in some browsers :(

Ok. I've used Live for sometime now and produced tracks to 5 labels, so I have s fair understanding of Live. IMO.. The sound engine isn't great. For example listen to a clean sample that needs no EQ etc drag it into Live and immediately the sound has severely been altered. Why should a sound that is already processed and mastered need to be EQ and processed again? One if the few things that gets to me of with Live. I hate latency too LOL, but that's another topic.

I can't remember exactly which pic I posted, but it was probably something like this:
