Sennheiser HD25 Mk 2

Post by mja » Sat Aug 22, 2009 9:33 am

For the past couple of weeks i have been looking for a new pair of headphones, for both djing and producing.I have been told that the Sennheiser HD25 Mk 2 are the best around at the moment for djing.Has anybody on here been producing with them, are they any good ?

Dunno if they're the best, but they are awesome... Very happy with my SENNHEISER HD-25 C II for DJing and all-round listening. For production, prefer to use my monitor speakers. I'd definitely buy the Sennheisers again...

Edit: But, obviously, try them out for sound and fit before buying...

Well i do use my monitor`s, but my room sounds awful, so it`s kind of pointless.A good pair of headphone`s would give me much better results.

HD25s are great DJ headphones.

However, the are HORRIBLE for production.

These headphones are super-bright which great when you need to crank them loud in a club (what they're designed for) but for long periods in a production capacity they just plain hurt.

DJing and production are two very different things which need different tools I think..

I just bought some new cups couple weeks ago for monitoring (mainly for stereo fx to check them out, soundbetter on phones lol) but would defo recommend AKG k141 mk11, great clarity, comfortable and made in Austria not china for once, i had pair of sonys before these and i prefer these hands down on production side.

i have them as well, and they are great for DJ-ing, they can make you seriously deaf, they can be über-loud without any distortion... so you don't realize with what kind of blast you torture your ears with.

also they are built like a russian tank.

but they don't have such a great sound compared to many other choices... but they are for sure the loudest headphones ever and rock solid built.

Sub exaggerates but he is right, HD 25 can mess up your hearing. Better then many more expensive cans, true but only for DJing or tracking - use them on tour for other work but they are really tiring, no comparison to HD 600/650 or 701 AKG. Best, perhaps only to cover studio and DJing are Sony 7509

of course i am pulling a leg... still they are surely not the best cans, sound wise and yes they can go so loud without you even noticing, because they stay clean and distortion free... and that can damage your hearing with a long term use... DJs with hearing problems have it mainly from to loud headphones, not from monitor speakers or PAs.

and yes they are great for DJ-ing because of there built and power. a really, really good sounding headphone is still something else.
