8.0.5. What happened to this great software ??

Post by Ballhaus » Wed Sep 30, 2009 6:46 pm

I tried much. But after deinstalling lots of plugins from my folder, Fx vstis, Cpu Spikes, performance issues, regular crashes issues i really asked myself what happened to this great software since version 8. I love the new features but this amazing stability i loved this programm for is somehow gone. I did the last tune in another DAw and all my plugs worked and although i love Live it was a great feelin to know that the DAW wont crash each second.
Is it possible for you guys on this forum to work with 8 like you did in 7 ?? I had never one crash in 7 which was totally amazing.

+1

impossible to work as smooth as it was in LIVE 7 (i'm about to go back to 7..)
Third party plugins that worked perfectly in 7 now make 8 crash.....
The problem is that i love 8 new features... (Configure mode, group tracks, multi dynamics, the new Operator..Etc...)
People that don't use third party plugins don't get crashes i think, good for them.....But i can't work that way......

I did my best to my help by sending LOADS of crashlogs and reports during the last beta phase (and even since....)
i'm also sure that Ableton are doing their best to adress all these issues.
So i hope next update will solve all these crashes with plugins......

But i mean what is the Reason for those issues, also the whole bad performance etc. If its lets say just the Group track feature, please just kill it Abes. There isnt another Audio Engine compared to 8 or am i wrong ???

I dont think its the third party plugs.. At least propper legaö plugs,
i tried for weeks without any plugs.. and had as much crashes as before..

repairing the user permisson seemed to have helped..but now the crashing is back...

For me it seems to happen on heavy use... endphases of productions..prepearation of gigs... beeing on stage...

exactly the moments where a crash really hurts... it never crashes when doing unimportant things.. i can work days just sorting samples or programing fx racks..no issue...but when it gets serious..bang :-/

so no reason to give up on all your plug ins for stability reasons..it will crash anyway

no crashes here since 8.03.. using a macbook and 10.5.7 osx. what OS are you using? I was frustrated also when it crashed so many times but I thought it got resolved after 8.03. well it was in my case.. I didn't do any permissions repair or anything of that sort. and I do have plenty of vst/au.. the only crash that happens to me once in a while is when running the Melodyne Bridge..

Here on 10.5.7 and 10.5.8 it crash a lot, it's really random with Fabfilter products mainly, but it also happen with Sylenth1, Microtonic....
It always happening while duplicating tracks or tweaking directly on the plugin GUI ..

For me Live 8 is as stable as 7, maybe more so, and I never really had many problems with the beta versions either, I have 2 MIDI controllers, a USB audio interface, 2 x UAD-1 and a UAD-2 so not exactly a simple set-up. It seems maybe slightly slower dragging tracks with device chains into sets.

I'm running pretty stable with 8.0.4.

I get some annoying pops and clicks every so often, but no crashes.

No crashes since I ditched Sample Tank.

System gets bogged down if I use too much RAM though, e.g. when using lots of multi-samples from EIC.

Currently running 8.0.5 on Vista Home Premium with 2GHz core duo and 2GB RAM.

8.04 and 8.05 completely stable here
would like to see those transient markers work a bit more accurately though

Saw in an article that the Launchpad is shipping with Live Lite 8.0.6. I'd imagine we'd be getting an update soon.

Personally my only problem is when Live crashes after I take my Laptop out of a sleep state. But this happened with Excel too so I guess the blame can't really be on Live but 10.6
