It's Official: Live + Serato on January 14, 2010
Re: It's Official: Live + Serato on January 14, 2010
Note the lack of "the latest version of" before the words "ableton live".We're not letting the cat out of the bag just yet, other than to say if you own Ableton Live, and any of the DJ products that use Serato software, get ready to unleash your creativity in 2010!
It may be a fools dream, but I take comfort in the thought that there is a chance, however remote it may be, that I may not have to upgrade to ableton 8 (or 9 depending on when it this live/serato thing is actually released) to make use of whatever it is they are cooking up.

Well thats a bit of a wide range as that could just be having timecoded vinyl or cds, any midi dj controller or do you need to have an ITCH controller.any of the DJ products that use Serato software
I wish they would just give us more information as i've just sold my cdj's to go digital, but now i'm not sure if i should get a Xone4D as don't know if it'll be able to control this Live2 software.

I do own a TTM 57 SL, but I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't be shackled to it.Serableton wrote: if you own Ableton Live, and any of the DJ products that use Serato software

I don't think the serato ableton aka Live 2 will be working with Itch. It seems that they are really treating Scratch and Itch as two completely different users.
Those videos have nothing to do with the new upcoming Live 2... It was probably just to build hype.

My bet is serato as plug-in, or rather a Live Device that hold the audio file which you can scratch, much like Ms.Pinky.
Professional Shark Jumper.

didn't people say max for live would be a "max device in live" or a "live object in max" when it first came out?magestro wrote:sounds realisticglitchrock-buddha wrote:My bet is serato as plug-in, or rather a Live Device that hold the audio file which you can scratch, much like Ms.Pinky.

I dont want to buy their crappy interface.
I wish they would release just the software so i can use my own interface for live.
They could tie it in to Live as a unlockable app like operator or sampler.
i'd have my money down on that in a split second.
£150 - 200 quid or less and they would make a lot of new customers.
At that kind of price it's be worth buying just for the track browsers and ability to see a few wave forms at once.
Would also sort live right out for dj-ing

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Re: It's Official: Live + Serato on January 14, 2010
all that needs to happen is for live to implement a way of assigning particular tracks to different tempo and timing signature. This would allow an overall master tempo, while allowing individual tracks to receive their own timing signature from, say, a dvi record. Play a live set, all your beats are snapped to the master as usual, but you have the ability to scratch and juggle clips from a particular track or sesies of tracks using a time code from a record, or some other controller. Serato just needs to put out a little program that sends timing info into ableton....
i drop on the lokeymassive

yeh, all these companies (well NI and Serato) need to understand there is a fairly big section of thier potential market that already have a good interface, have forked out decent amount of money and would rather use their own kit.
No way i am buying the Serato hardware. i'll just keep ableton and djing seperate as I do at the moment. . .
