Just found some outboard gear on the side of the road

Post by Aequitas123 » Tue Oct 06, 2009 5:49 pm

Can anyone help me out with this?

Its a Pro Tools/Digidesign Quad Audio Interface. Pretty old looking. Searching Google said it's either an SA4 or a 442 NuBus Interface.

Anyone know what this is actually called and what i can do with it. I have no cables but got it running with a powercord.

found some "outboard gear" on the side of the road? thats funny that you had to tell us it was "outboard gear" cause we might have thought you found a vst on the side of the road :)
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Most insane one I ever heard of is a guy up here who worked at an electronics recycling center, who pulled an Arp 2600 from the clutches of doom! 8O

You just fulfilled a dream of mine.

Sometimes I have this terrible nightmare where someone has a sought-after piece of gear, and they're about to destroy it for no good reason. Usually in the dream I rescue it.

Actually, on a computer "Outboard" refers to external parts and "Onboard" refers to parts attached directly to the motherboard. So I imagine the OP wasn't really referring to physical vs virtual

Precisely. Although i would like to find some good VSTs on the side of the road.

Now, has anyone heard of this thing or know anything about it? Can someone confirm what its actually called?

Here's a picture of it that i found on Google: http://laternamagica.org/Techinst/Detal07s.jpg (its the second from the bottom).
